Areas of Practice

Wills and Living Trusts

Civil Litigation

Richard Mac Bride has handled hundreds of civil lawsuits since 1998 on both the plaintiff and defense side.

Richard helps you to evaluate the strengths and weakness of your case, and to decide on the best course of action. Sometimes, fighting the case is the best choice. In other situations, it may be advisable to negotiate a resolution that both sides can live with before going to trial. Either way, Richard will give you vigorous representation. You can always get in contact with Richard on the phone to discuss your case. He will take your calls personally.

Business Law

Immigration Law

The Americans With Disabilities Act (“ADA”) was passed in 1992. Its goal is to provide access to disabled persons in everyday life, in public businesses, and in the workplace. This can include access through modifying restrooms, parking lots, sales counters, and ramps for wheelchairs.

Richard Mac Bride has handled over five hundred Americans With Disabilities Act (“ADA”) cases since 2012, in both the federal and state courts. He has extensive knowledge of how to assert the rights of disabled persons who cannot gain access to businesses, and he knows how to defend businesses in the face of such lawsuits.

Are you are a disabled person who runs up against barriers in your daily life, like a restroom that is too small or a parking lot with no disabled parking? Maybe a tall step up to get in the front door of a store? A service counter at a gas station that is too high? Richard Mac Bride can help you fight to get the business to remove those barriers as required by law. You may also be entitled to monetary compensation.

Are you a business that has been sued over a dining table being too high, or because the paint was faded in your disabled parking space? Richard can advise you on the best strategy to defend against such cases. It may even be possible to get the lawsuit thrown out of court.

Landlord-Tenant

Richard Mac Bride has assisted hundreds of local businesses in the last 24 years to deal with their everyday business needs. Negotiate a contract, deal with a lease, or negotiate with the Labor Commission over a labor dispute – these are some of the typical kinds of cases that Richard has handled.

Richard Mac Bride has handled over five hundred cases of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (“DACA”) since 2012. Over 99% of these have been approved, and renewed every two years. Richard also represents immigrants in Immigration Court. Because he is fluent in Spanish, the clients can talk directly to Richard, without the need for a secretary of paralegal to interpret.

Richard has represented dozens of landlords in the last 24 years in landlord-tenant disputes. This is a tricky area of the law. Many cities have their own special rules for rent control. You need a lawyer who will give you individual attention to the specific rules that govern your rental.

Many people work hard to save and buy a home. As they get older, they want to make sure that their children can inherit their home when the time comes. But a traditional last will and testament is not always the best way to leave your home to your children. A will requires a probate proceeding, which can take a year and is expensive.

Fortunately, there is an easy solution – a living trust. The living trust allows you to leave your home to your children without going through probate. The process is relatively fast and easy. Richard has drafted dozens of living trusts over the last 24 years. He can help you with your living trust.
